Class Information
Amenities
Classes are held in the home of Plate 11 Woodworking, just southwest of Ozark, MO. The shop is heated and air conditioned and equipped with both industrial machines and hand tools. There are several full-sized workbenches and each student typically has their own bench. The shop is well lit with several windows to let in natural light, and when the weather is nice we can work with both overhead doors open to let in the fresh air and even more northern light. Lunch will be provided each day of the class. This will either be a home cooked meal or something from one of our locally owned restaurants.
Tools
I will provide all the power tools necessary to complete the build, but each class will have a list of basic hand tools needed to complete the project. If you find that you are missing one or two of the tools from the list there is a good chance I have one you can borrow. Please notify me ahead of time of any special tool needs so that we don't end up with two students expecting to borrow the same tool.
Skill Level & Shop Safety
The only skill I require is a willingness to be safe in the shop. Though we won't have time to overhaul an entire set of tools, there will be plenty of time for demonstrations on tool set up and sharpening during class. In addition the shop is available for hand tool use both before and after normal class hours if you need to practice any newly acquired skills. I will provide brief instruction on the safe use of any power tools before they are used in the build and I will be there to supervise or address any issues that come up during their use.
Lodging
If you’d like to stay close to the shop I highly recommend the Market House Loft on AirBnB. It’s located on the historic Ozark square just above the best breakfast café in town. If you prefer a hotel I recommend the Ozark Quality Inn. Nearby Springfield offers accommodations from Marriott, Hilton, Holiday Inn and more.
How To Register
After you've decided on a class click the "Register Now" button and pay the Registration Fee. This fee varies by class and is refundable (less any bank fees) until the cut-off date which is typically 6 weeks before the class begins. The balance of the class fee is due on the cut-off date. If you need to cancel after the cut-off date I will refund the balance amount (less any bank fees), but the deposit is not refundable. Total cost, registration fees, balances and cut-off dates are detailed in each class description.
